My Story
My name is Christena Georgiadis and I am an artist from Rochester, NY.
I have recently obtained my Bachelor's in Fine Arts with a minor in Art Therapy at Nazareth University.
I grew up in an immigrant family that came to Upstate New York from Greece and Albania. I have always felt a deep connection to my roots. Growing up, I witnessed first hand the struggles that my parents faced which included feelings of displacement and exclusion.
My art is a reflection of my journey with mental health and more specifically body image issues that young women face in this society. I seek to incorporate elements of the natural world with the female nude to convey these complexities.

Artist Statement
Dating back to antiquity in Ancient Greece, Western artists have depicted the human body in its natural and idealized form. Drawing inspiration from my ancestral roots, I incorporate elements from Greek antiquity and mythology in my work to fuse the ancient world with my perception of the modern world. My thesis explores the complexities of our perception on body image, while also incorporating elements from the natural world.
